We had so much fun yesterday celebrating our 1000th performance! While we go through all of our content from yesterday, here is a fun behind-the-scenes look at one of the most unique and extravagant surprises we’ve had at the show.
Here’s the set-up. We’ve got a huge fan in Audemars Piguet President of the North American Divison, Francois-Henry Bennahmias. He’s the one who inspired and helped put together our Inspire Change Student Flash Mob last February- if you need a reminder, here is the video (and if you need a little “love” moment of the day, make sure to watch the clip until the end to catch J. Bernard Calloway, our “Delray” in a very real moment).
So clearly, in bringing 1,100 school kids to Memphis, Mr. Bennahmias is no stranger to doing things on a grand scale. Still it was a huge shock to get the call on Tuesday that 1,000 roses were going to be delivered to the stage door in celebration of this fantastical milestone. I found it hard to picture in my mind 1,000 roses, but we knew we NEEDED a picture of all those flowers.
Cue the last minute email yesterday to Montego Glover and Adam Pascal (yup I still get “fan girl giddy” when I get to email these people) and sweetly asked them to be available for a photo before fight call.
Here’s my shot of the festivities:
It took 2 stage managers, 2 producers, 2 Press agents and one producer’s daughter to help stage the scene.
The level of gorgeousness in this picture is insane. The Adam + Montego x 1000 roses= off the charts! I think Memphis needs to have a float in the Rose Bowl parade…
Carolyn works as an Associate Producer at Junkyard Dog Productions- Producers of MEMPHIS. She is still trying to find an appropriate time to give out “Scratch My Itch” back scratchers to the cast as a company gift. So far, that time has not yet presented itself.
